Residents may continue to experience issues with calling 911 on the Eastern Shore.
According to 911, Verizon has completed initial repairs and 911 services have been functional since the repairs were completed. However, since the issue is intermittent, they are electing to keep the advisory in place for the time being.
Due to an intermittent issue with Verizon network equipment, some 9-1-1 callers on the Eastern Shore of Virginia may not be able to dial in to 9-1-1 using a cellular or landline phone during brief, intermittent periods of time. If unable to reach 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Callers can call the dispatch center directly at 757-387-9508.
The issue began Sunday afternoon.
