Fire destroys home on Lankford Highway near Parksley Thursday evening

At 5:18 p.m. on Thursday, units from Parksley, Bloxom, Tasley, Onancock, Melfa, Wachapreague, and Atlantic responded to a residential structure fire on Lankford Highway near Parksley.

Upon arrival, first responders found the residence fully engulfed in flames. All  five residents were reported to be safe and out of the building.

Firefighters worked quickly and brought the fire under control within approximately one hour.
