A minor earthquake was recorded Wednesday night off the coast of Assateague.
The US Geological Survey recorded the 2.6 earthquake at 8:21 p.m.
No effects of the minor event were felt on land on the Shore.
East Coast earthquakes do occur from time to time but are very rare in our area.
