A 15-year-old ninth grader from Norfolk was indicted Monday by a Northampton Grand Jury to stand trial as an adult on 10 counts of violence that stemmed from a drive-by shooting in the Bayview area last summer.

Massai Lamir Giddens, of Foresttown Drive, was indicted on counts of malicious wounding, malicious shooting at an occupied vehicle, malicious shooting at an occupied building, defacing or damaging property valued at more than $1,000, shooting a gun from a vehicle, displaying a firearm or using it while attempting to commit murder, malicious wounding, or malicious wounding by a mob, and shooting another person.

Giddens was also charged with misdemeanor reckless handing of a firearm, being a member of a mob that committed assault, and shooting in or along Bluebird Road in Cape Charles. The alleged crimes occurred on June 14 and 15.

Giddens is being held in Norfolk Detention Center. Court records state he is making progress to graduate from high school there in 2028. He had previously attended Booker T. Washington High School in Tidewater.

Four adults were indicted in November in connection with the incidents. They were 18-year-old Nykeem Ijour Bailey, of Walnut Lane in Birdsnest, 19-year-old Nicholas Edward Petrillo, of Seaside Road in Painter, 19-year-old John Davis Barbour, of Redwood Road in Onancock, and 27-year-old Khiry Di’Fredrick Washington, of Blue Bird Road in Cheriton.

According to court records, officers responded to reports of shots being fired on Bluebird Road, Briar Court, and Sunnyside Road. Multiple cars and apartments at Bayview Gardens were hit by gunfire, and a woman was struck in the foot. Officers took photos of damaged vehicles and dwellings. Casings were collected from the road for evidence. Witnesses told authorities a black sedan drove through and started shooting. As the car was leaving, a white Grand Marquis and a light blue vehicle were seen chasing the dark sedan, and shots were fired between those who were in the cars, the record stated.

In another violent case, 67-year-old Wilbert Junior Freeman Jr., of Cheriton Cross Road in Cheriton, was indicted on August 2024 counts of causing injury to 71-year-old Ricardo Finley with “acid, lye, or other caustic substance or agent” and that Finley was wounded with severe or permanent physical impairment.

According to court files, police responded to a report of an assault in Cheriton. Finley said Freeman assaulted him with a bat or club. Freeman told officers that he acted in self-defense. Finley said his wounds exceeded self-defense.

Thirty-three-year-old James Waylon Widgeon, of Cabarras Drive in Franktown, was indicted on September 2024 counts of armed burglary at night at the dwelling of Donald Sheets Jr., grand theft of property valued at more than $1,000 including a firearm belonging to Sheets, being a violent felon in possession of a gun, two counts of burglary of a building belonging to Gordon Campbell, stealing property valued at less than $1,000 belonging to Campbell and two counts of wearing a mask, hood, or other device to conceal his identity. Widgeon was also indicted on August 2024 counts of burglary of property belonging to William Farlow Sr. and David Farlow Jr. and stealing property valued at more than $1,000 belonging to the Farlows.

Forty-seven-year-old Daniel Fonseca III, of Lankford Highway in an undisclosed location in the county, was indicted on a November 2024 count of cocaine possession.

Twenty-five-year-old Tra’veon Lemar Satchell, of Trehernville Drive in Birdsnest, was indicted on two October 2024 counts of felony eluding.

Thirty-one-year-old Jamiya Nicole Martin, of Chapel Lake Drive in Virginia Beach, was indicted on a July 21, 2024, count of unauthorized use of a vehicle on July 21, 2024. The U-Haul vehicle belonged to Bay Storage. It was alleged that Martin failed to return it the next day as promised and kept it for more than 30 days while her payment card was declined. Court records state she did not answer phone calls regarding the matter. Martin was arrested Aug. 23.

Sixty-six-year-old Alexander Cleveland, also known as Alexander Graves, of Mappsville, was indicted on a count of possessing cocaine on Aug. 20, 2024.

Forty-year-old David Samuel Bailey, of Welcome Road in Chesapeake, was indicted on a July 13, 2024, count of possession of crystal meth.

Forty-four-year-old Lairity James Hose, address not available, was indicted on a count of credit card larceny in connection with an incident that occurred between Aug. 2 and 20, 2024.
