CANCELLED – ESCC Heritage and Homecoming Celebration
Saturday, September 23, the ESCC Heritage and Homecoming Event returns in an all-new format with lots of new features! From 10am-3pm on the campus of ESCC in Melfa, there will be over 70 artists, crafters, and community group participants, in addition to exhibits from the Shoreborn Facebook Group, the ES Maritime Museum, and a tribute room dedicated to Willie Crockett presented by Billy Crockett (just to name a few) .
Food will be available through food trucks by Mama Judith (Mexican Cuisine), Caribbean Cuisine (Jamaican), Perkins Foods (Cheesesteaks, Burgers, Wings & More), Asia Tankard (Italian Ice), and Popping Pots (Crab Cake Eggrolls, Popcorn Shrimp, Fish). Plus our own ESCC PTK Club will be selling burgers and dogs and baked goods too!
There will be live music featuring Margo Resto with the Fil Rhythm Band (10am-1pm), and the exciting local band Escandalo Norteno (1:30pm-3pm). Going on throughout the day will be drone demonstrations from Sentinel Robotics Solutions, FREE Community Health Screenings from the ESCC/TCC RN Program and the Lion’s Club, the Peninsula Tractor Organization with antique farm equipment, and owners of antique and classic cars and trucks are invited to cruise-in and show as well!
The Bear Den will be staging an ESCC Corn Hole Tournament sponsored by The Eastern Shore Post and Sensible Solutions (registration info at es.vccs.edu) Family activities available include face painting, our local ES Family YMCA, the ESCC Learning Resource Center, and Project Horizons!
All ESCC Alumni are urged to attend and reconnect! We’ll have alumni stations where you can sign our giant student boards, and get your free alumni lapel pins. Harold Cherrix and Amy Davis will be here from NASA Wallops to greet our many former students who work in the aerospace field, plus ESCC’s Allied Health program will be set up with representation from current and former students as well. We invite the many alumni who work in healthcare for Riverside, E.S. Rural Health, and other agencies, to please stop by and sign our boards and collect your pin. College football fans can even stop in our Game Day Room to view current scores and game coverage!
In addition to classroom demonstrations in welding, biology, and electronics, we’ll be holding a special dedication to the late Robin Rich Coates at 1pm with a tree planting and plaque presentation.
