Eastern Shore Regional Library’s Summerfest in Parksley
The Eastern Shore of Virginia Regional Library will kick off its summer reading program with Summerfest on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Parksley Library.
This year’s summer reading theme is “Unearth a Story,” featuring a dinosaur theme for young readers and families. Summerfest will include crafts, snacks, a bouncy house, giveaways, and other free activities.
The Eastern Shore Public Library Foundation will also have a table in front of its office with free books to hand out and a friendly dinosaur available for selfies.
The books were donated by Dana Simson, an artist and author who owns the Imaginarium in Onancock with her husband, John Orth, who is also an artist.
Library officials said the event is open to everyone, including those who may not have a young reader in their household. Community members are invited to attend and see the role local libraries play in supporting young readers and families across the Eastern Shore.
