9th Annual Croaker Classic Fishing Tournament
The 9th Annual Croaker Classic Fishing Tournament, benefiting the Onancock Volunteer Fire Department, will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, with activities based out of the Onancock Town Wharf. Anglers and community members are invited to enjoy a day of fun and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay while supporting the dedicated volunteers of the fire department.
The event kicks off with a Captain’s Meeting and Registration on Friday, August 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mallards at the Wharf. On tournament day, lines go in at 12:00 noon and out at 5:00 p.m., with the weigh-in scheduled from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Onancock Wharf. Registration includes entry to the tournament, a commemorative t-shirt, sponsor-provided goodies, and free admission to the After Party at Mallards. Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd largest croaker, as well as the largest non-croaker species, with multiple divisions including a Youth Division. (Please note: sharks and rays are not eligible.)
Businesses and individuals are encouraged to support the event through sponsorships. A $3,000 Captain’s Sponsor level includes the largest logo placement on event t-shirts and banners, along with boat entry for 10 anglers. A $1,000 First Mate Sponsor includes a large logo placement and boat entry for 8 anglers. A $350 Deck Hand Sponsor includes a logo on shirts and banners, with boat entry for 4 anglers.
Those interested in sponsoring or registering a team should submit their Sponsor/Team Name, address, phone number, and email along with payment. Checks must be received by July 19 to guarantee logo placement on t-shirts and sponsor banners. Payments and forms may be mailed to: Onancock Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
