The Cape Charles Historical Society has had to cancel our annual April Shrimp Boil. It would not have been a safe event to hold at this time. Depending on how the situation develops, it may be rescheduled. We do plan to hold the November Oyster Roast as usual.

Broadwater Academy’s 2020 Gala has been postponed

The Accomack county School Board will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday March 31, 2020. The Habitat for Humanity Re-Store in Exmore now has a truck for at home pickup of unwanted furniture and appliances. Pickup is free and all donations are tax deductible. Call 757-442-3500 to arrange pickup.

The Onancock Market has adopted a wait-and-see position as to when we will open for our 9th season. We are working with The VA Dept of Agriculture to ensure that, when we open, we will have the safest possible environment for vendors, volunteers and patrons.   Of course, we are and will continue to take direction from Governor Northam’s executive orders. Please look for an update in mid-April.

Onancock International Films is suspended until further notice

EASTERN SHORE food distribution sites for March 30-April 3, 2020 Tuesday and Thursday 9-12 and 1-3, at the Foodbank in Tasley. Please stay in your vehicles until instructed otherwise. Tuesday – Mobile Pantry at Northampton High School from 10-12. Friday – Mobile Pantry Taylor & Fulton, Mappsville, 2:30-3:30, please remain in your vehicles for all mobile pantries. We will keep you updated on any addition distributions happening on the Eastern Shore as they are scheduled.

The Eastern Shore of Virginia’s Historical Society annual gala, which had been scheduled for May 30, will now be Saturday, Oct. 3, at the home of A. Thomas Young in Poplar Cove outside Onancock. More details to come.

Hog Bash 2020 at the Onancock Elks Lodge has been postponed from April 25th to September 26th. Tickets are still available at Eventbrite or by calling 787-7750. Anyone purchasing tickets before April 25th will be entered into our early bird (4) drawings for $250ea.
