Northampton County Finance Director John Chandler reported to the Board of Supervisors Tuesday evening that a recent inspection of both the Occohannock and Kiptopeke Elementary Schools revealed both roofs were leaking. Chandler was there to request $41,447 be approved to fix the problems. The schools are both 25 years old.
Robert Duer added they were blessed that it is only $41,000 in repairs.
In other business Tuesday night, a special election was set for Tuesday, November 6, 2018 to elect a new Commonwealth’s Attorney for Northampton County. Long time Commonwealth’s Attorney Bruce Jones retired at the end of 2017. Currently, Bev Leatherbury is acting Commonwealth’s Attorney.
