The Northampton County Board of Supervisors will meet tonight. The Board will consider a request by Heritage Hall Nursing Home to put Hospital Avenue on the state maintenance list.
According to Administrator Chad Isabell, the facility was virtually cut off during the January 5 snowstorm. Isabelle said there was never a problem when the hospital was operating because state plows kept the road clear to the hospital.
Isabelle said that during the blizzard Hospital Avenue became impassable. He said that ambulances could not reach Heritage Hall and employees necessary to care for the facility’s 140 residents could not get from the highway to Heritage Hall.
Isabelle is asking the Northampton Board to request state help in keeping Hospital Avenue open during snow events.
