Eastern Shore Community College celebrated the ground breaking for a brand new academic and administration building, Friday morning, October 13th. A large crowd gathered in the Great Hall of the Workforce Development Services Building due to light rain that persisted. Local and statewide attendance was on hand to launch the beginning of activity on the building site in Melfa, including members of the architectural firm RRMM in Chesapeake, the Virginia Community College System, past and present ESCC administration, faculty, and staff, the ESCC Foundation and College Boards, and numerous members of the business community and local government.

Prior to the ceremonial groundbreaking, speakers included ESCC President, Dr. Linda Thomas-Glover, VCCS Chancellor Glenn Dubois, the honorable Lynwood Lewis, State Senator, Jeff Holland, ESCC Board Chair, Roberta Newman of the ESCC Foundation Board, and the honorable Robert S. Bloxom Jr., of the Va. House of Delegates.
