Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore[CBES} is issuing a Watch Out for Cyclists advisory for Saturday, October 28, as some 1,000 bikers will be participating in the 25th Anniversary Between the Waters Bike Tour. The start and end of the tour is at Sunset Beach Resort just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on Route 13.

The Tour begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 100 milers departing, and staggered starts for the remaining 3 routes ending at 10 a.m. All cyclists are expected off local roads prior to dark.

The ride is heavily concentrated on the lower Shore from Eastville south though the longest route will reach Painter. Cyclists will travel the roads both bayside and seaside. Rt 600, Seaside Road will see many cyclists.

Riders will travel through and around towns and villages including Oyster, Cheriton, Eastville [the main lunch stop], Townsend, Franktown, Exmore [lunch stop for 100 milers], Willis Wharf, Belle Haven, Mappsburg, and Painter.

Please be attentive of bikes crossing Route 13 at various locations including Sunset Beach Resort and the Eastern Shore Wildlife Refuge, Cheriton traffic light, Sylvan Scene Drive, Route 625 north of Machipongo, Exmore traffic light, and Painter.

Friday, October 27 a shorter Fun Ride will have approximately 200 participants leaving from Rayfields Pharmacy, Nassawadox at 4PM into the surrounding area.

Its requested that dog owners be mindful of the Shores cycling guests.
